Dear Peer, Provider or Caregiver,
Wow, what a great Mental Health Awareness month! This year so many
people are really putting in a lot of effort from the DBSA, NAMI and
many other organizations like Mental Health America and also not to for
get many of our peers and their individual efforts.
The Mental Health Humor Cartoon-A-Thon is a free and fun project to use
humor as a coping skill. Each day during the month I’ve volunteered to
draw one cartoon. Now we have 26 new cartoons for this month to use
humor to bring awareness to many different mental health issues. It’s
meant to use positive humor as a way to cope with our serious disorders.
It has been successful, so far we have had over 22,000 unique visits and
53,000 page views. http://mentalhealthcartoons.com/
I want to thank every one who has come by the site. Please keep visiting
and if you have not see it yet i want to encourage you to stop on by.
Humor is the best medicine when coping with adversity. I welcome you to
use any of the cartoons in your newsletters on on your website or blog.
I ask if you have a blog or website that you add our link to it. I don’t
charge for the use of the cartoons but I do ask that you consider making
a donation to the project if you can.
This month we also are trying to raise funding to take the project to
the public with presentations and workshops. We understand money is
tight, but if you can make a pledge on any amount that will help us a
lot. Or, maybe you have a Laptop in good working order that you could
donate or a Projector so we can use PowerPoint with the presentation. If
so please e-mail me and we will make arrangements to get it to use.
